CURE in Kenya
The picture above is of CURE in Kenya. Everyone who serves with CURE in Kenya, from medical professionals to office staff, are dedicated to providing the highest quality medical and spiritual care to people who, without CURE, couldn't find it and couldn't afford it, just like Victor. To do that, we're inviting you to partner with us.
We need to raise approximately $1000 to treat children like Victor. When you give a gift through Victor's CUREkids profile, your contribution will help us continue our work in countries like Kenya. Have more questions? Ask us.
Monthly Giving: Be a Hero!
When you partner with us monthly, we'll send you an email each month to introduce you to a different child who was helped because of your generosity. You can choose to follow their updates and send them get well messages. That means that each year, you're a part of helping 12 different children, beginning with Victor. We call it being a CURE Hero!
Got it. Thanks for the explanation.

Living in a rural setting, it is common for young ones to stay with their grandparents. When Victor was just a year old, he was with his grandma in the kitchen. Hot water was boiling on the pot next to them. Victor crawled unseen and pulled the pot towards his side to check what was inside. Within seconds, Victor's eerie cry filled the hut! His grandma turned suddenly to find Victor's clothes wet around the arm.
Victor was rushed to the hospital and spent four years in four different hospitals with no successful treatment. A burn contracture release surgery was finally done in the fifth hospital. However, the contracture at the elbow was not released. During the physiotherapy sessions at the same hospital, the condition worsened. Ruth, Victor's mum resorted to go home since the funds for plastic surgery were high at that hospital. Victor was felt hopeless and even asked his grandmother if she would allow him to cut off his hand!
During one of their local church services, an announcement was made about an upcoming CURE clinic in partnership with the government in their neighborhood. A WhatsApp message was sent to everyone who wanted to attend, and a week later, Ruth took Victor to the clinic. Now, they are at CURE Kenya!
Latest Updates
Victor was resting in the ward after his dressing change and was playing 'Temple Run.' His right hand would get tired, and he would put the phone down for a while. He has to wait a little longer for the left hand to heal so that he can start occupational therapy.
With burn procedures, it is normal to have band changes on a daily basis. This is done to ensure the skin grafting is taking place as it should. Victor was lying in the dressing room as our nurse prepared for a dressing change. Please join us in praying for Victor's healing and seamless transformation.
This was the second procedure for Victor, but the first one at a CURE hospital! Dr. Theuri, Medical Director, assisted by Dr. Federico, who performed the skin grafting, handled Victor's contracture release procedure. For his case, the healing process will be fast since skin grafts typically heal in about two weeks. Dr. Theuri was stitching up the skin graft on Victor's arm as they concluded the procedure in under forty minutes! We thank you for your prayers.
