To do that, we're inviting you to partner with us.

We need to raise approximately $1000 to treat children like Caren. When you give a gift through Caren's CUREkids profile, your contribution will help us continue our work in countries like Kenya. Have more questions? Ask us.

Monthly Giving: Be a Hero!

When you partner with us monthly, we'll send you an email each month to introduce you to a different child who was helped because of your generosity. Caren's Story

"My kinsmen advised me to let Caren grow up with the clubfoot, but I wouldn't listen," Maureen told us.

Caren is a five-year-old girl and the last born in a family of four. She was born with clubfoot affecting her left foot. After her birth, doctors started the 'Ponseti Method' of clubfoot treatment which involved serial casting for six to eight weeks. "I didn't notice any change on the foot, so I stopped going to the hospital entirely," said Maureen, Caren's mom.

The next few years were a challenge! Maureen lost her husband when Caren was less than a year old. Her kinsmen told her to let the search for treatment go and just continue living life as they were. But Maureen wanted more for her daughter. She went to her grandma, who stayed in the nearby city, for advice. Her grandma told her about CURE mobile clinics that come to the town and offer surgery to children with conditions like Caren's. After hearing about CURE, Maureen and Caren traveled 400kms to get to CURE Kenya for clubfoot surgery for Caren.

We are so glad that they are here! Please join us in prayer for this family.

Caren had a successful surgery that corrected the soft bones in her ankle. She had a bit of discomfort, due to the weight of the cast, as her wound heals. This is normal with clubfoot surgery. We thank you for your support this far. Let's continue to pray for a positive result for Caren when she goes home later tomorrow. Photo of Caren

Pastor Emmy visited Caren and her mom Maureen in the ward. Caren was resting in bed and was given a bible story to watch on Pastor Emmy's phone. Surgery was performed to correct Caren's clubfoot and align her foot in a more normal position. The surgical procedure consisted of releasing and lengthening the tight tendons/joint capsule of the foot. Great news! We were excited to hear Maureen gave her life to Christ and was led by Pastor Emmy in the prayer of the faithful. Please pray for Maureen's faith to strengthen and Caren's recovery to go smoothly. Caren was eagerly waiting for her transformation to begin! She was looking at the NPO (Nothing By Mouth) diet sticker by her bedside which meant she could only take clear fluids, such as water. As she goes in for surgery, let's pray for her procedure to go well and her transformation to begin as soon as possible. Photo of Caren

"This condition has derailed Caren's education. She only speaks in her vernacular, and she has reached the school-going age," Maureen, Carens's mom told us. She hopes that Caren will be healed at CURE Kenya and that she finally begin school. Let's join Maureen in prayer as she encourages Caren that everything will be okay through Christ our Lord.
