CURE in Kenya

The picture above is of CURE in Kenya. Everyone who serves with CURE in Kenya, from medical professionals to office staff, are dedicated to providing the highest quality medical and spiritual care to people who, without CURE, couldn't find it and couldn't afford it, just like Mary. To do that, we're inviting you to partner with us.

We need to raise approximately $1000 to treat children like Mary. When you give a gift through Mary's CUREkids profile, your contribution will help us continue our work in countries like Kenya. Have more questions? Ask us.

Monthly Giving: Be a Hero!

When you partner with us monthly, we'll send you an email each month to introduce you to a different child who was helped because of your generosity. You can choose to follow their updates and send them get well messages. That means that each year, you're a part of helping 12 different children, beginning with Mary. We call it being a CURE Hero!

Got it. Thanks for the explanation.

“It seems like a genetic condition because Mary's mum, older sister, and now Mary all have had bow legs.” Lydia, Mary’s cousin, told us.

Meet Mary, a nine year old girl who was born normal but when she turned five, her parents started noticing she was walking differently. Having already had one child with bow legs, they immediately and correctly suspected the worst. But thankfully, also because they had already had one child with bow legs, Mary's family knew what to do and they brought her here to us at CURE Kenya! They already know the transformative power of surgery first hand and they dream of nothing but the best for Mary. Along with Mary's family, we are praying for the best outcome and we ask that you join us!

Mary's physical therapy session wasn't that hard ... or at least that's the way it looks from the smile on her face! She was able to move back and forth from her side of the ward to the aisle with no problems. We are happy that Mary is recovering well. Thank you for your prayers, support, and get well messages! Mary was resting in the ward with her cousin Lydia who literally supported her to help her find a comfortable sitting position. Mary's physical therapy sessions will start tomorrow after she's had today to recover and get some strength back. We thank God for her progress! Photo of Mary

The doctors were stitching Mary's wound after her knee correction was done in the operating room. Mary's bones were corrected and then she had a metal plate and screws inserted to stabilize the cut bones. She will be in a cast for six to eight weeks until the bones heal. During this period, Mary will not be allowed to move and will have to rest with minimal leg movement. We thank God for the successful surgery and pray for her recovery to be seamless! Photo of Mary

“Mary is such an active child and sometimes I notice her struggling to play like her friends do. I hope this surgery will help her gain some confidence and live a fuller life!” Lydia told us. Mary struck a cool pose when we were doing a mini photo shoot this morning. She is very jovial and we look forward to more fun times with her as she starts her healing process! Photo of Mary
