To do that, we're inviting you to partner with us.

We need to raise approximately $1000 to treat children like Monicah. When you give a gift through Monicah's CUREkids profile, your contribution will help us continue our work in countries like Kenya. Have more questions? Ask us.

Monthly Giving: Be a Hero!

When you partner with us monthly, we'll send you an email each month to introduce you to a different child who was helped because of your generosity. “I had seen the same condition in some adults walking around town with those long support sticks and it pained me to think that that was my baby girl’s fate.”

Monicah is the only child born to Elizabeth. She was born with a right clubfoot condition and from the parents’ testimony, there was indeed mixed reactions. “Why had this happened to our baby?” Elizabeth asked herself. “I didn’t even want to know the baby’s gender during my clinic visits because I wanted it to be special surprise.” she continues.

Determined to help their baby, Elizabeth and her husband sort for advice from the doctors in the hospital where she had delivered Monicah. There wasn’t much they could do since they weren’t a specialist hospital for conditions such as clubfoot. However, the doctors put Monicah on cast change-shoe brace procedure for close to 4 years. The right foot would become straight in a cast today but after a week of wearing the shoe, the foot would curve inside over and over again.

When all hope seemed lost, some residents (who knew about CURE Kenya) had come to the local hospital near Elizabeth’s home area and during the rotations in the ward, learned of Monicah’s condition. They informed them of mobile clinics that were coming in the area. Hope was again re-ignited! Early this year, they attended one and a surgery was of the essence for Monicah’s foot to be corrected.

“Monicah is a healthy girl. Both physically and mentally, she has grown up positive, is not afraid to play despite her constant tripping and challenges in maintaining a proper posture balance.” Elizabeth tells us.

Monicah is now at CURE awaiting her surgery that will correct her right foot for her to be able to walk in a right posture and above all, Monicah wants to ride a bicycle once she’s healed!!

We spent some time with Monicah and her mum today to read them the Get Well Messages you've sent them. Look at how happy you made these two ladies. We asked Monicah’s mum what made her so happy and she said, “These are sweet messages from people who don’t even know us personally. We are grateful!” Monicah and her mum are ready to go home and we will see them in a few weeks time. Please keep praying for Monicah’s recovery. Photo of Monicah

Monicah was excited by the prospect of receiving a CURE Care Kit. Isn’t it always fun to receive gifts? Monicah and her mum were happy that our spiritual team came to the ward this morning with these gifts for everyone. The kits contain some Bible story coloring books, crayons, a small toy, and some hygiene materials. It doesn't seem like much, but it gives the patients a tangible item to show off when they return home and helps spread the good news about CURE's services both physical and spiritual! This morning Monicah was on the phone with her dad telling him how hard yesterday was, but how well she slept and woke up today. We asked Monicah how she felt and she told us that she is better that yesterday. That’s an answered prayer right there and we thank God! Monicah will stay at CURE Kenya for observation and when she is ready to go home she will be discharged. Photo of Monicah

Monicah had her surgery today and we thank God because, according to the doctor who did it, it was successful! In a few weeks time she will have a straight leg and will be able to play without tripping randomly and falling. Please pray for her recovery process, that it is smooth and without complications. Monicah is a cute little girl who wants to be a doctor when she grows up! Her mum told us she had a hard time when some blood needed to be drawn from her finger for some pre-surgery tests. So, to take her mind off things, her mom joked if she wanted to be a doctor, she would need to be courageous and not fear needles! We thank God that Monicah and her mum are here at CURE Kenya and we're praying for her upcoming surgery! Photo of Monicah
