“Joseph just came home from school that day and complained of pain on the left side of his leg, from the hip all the way down to the foot. I didn't think anything could hurt my big, soccer playing son, but it was so bad, he didn't return to school for the rest of the year.” Joseph's mom Grace remembers.
They're not sure what started Joseph's problems, but the way it has influenced his life has been undeniable. He went from being a strong young man and a standout soccer player (his favorite team is Manchester City and Leroy Sane is his favorite player), to someone crippled with pain and with a foot that has slowly curved inwards. He had difficulty walking and playing soccer again seemed like an unattainable dream. The longer Joseph was out of school, the more worried he and the whole family became. It wasn't until one of Joseph's friends told a nun at his school about Joseph's situation that they started to see glimmers of hope and a future once again. This nun was able to tell Joseph about us here at CURE Kenya and that we would be able to help correct his foot!
Please join us in both welcoming Joseph and praying for him as we work to get his foot straightened out and him back on the soccer field!
We shared the get well messages that you have been sending Joseph's way. He read them with interest. "Thank you so much for your encouraging messages." Joseph told us. His initial post-op pain has receded and he could possibly start physical therapy exercises since he is going to be discharged to continue with recovery at home! We thank the Lord God for his positive recovery so far.
Joseph's surgery was a success! Joseph isn't much of a talker but he whispered to his mom that his ankle is pretty sore (which is normal after surgery) Our nurses are taking care of him, but let's continue praying and supporting Joseph during this time of recovery.
Joseph's road to transformation has started! He went into surgery today and the doctors corrected his left foot so that he can stand, walk, and even playing his favorite sport, soccer! We continue to pray for Joseph as he now begins the work of healing.
“I love to play football, a lot. But now, I am not able. I hope once I am healed, this is going to change” Joseph told us. Let’s pray for a successful surgery that will correct his foot so that he’ll be able to play again.
