Meet Timothy a 15 year old boy who is the last born child in a family of 5. He was born normal and he grew okay up until he was about 4 years old where his family started noticing that something was wrong with the way he was walking. Timothy is at CURE Kenya with his brother. His brother was among the first people to notice that Timothy was not completely okay. He was taken to a hospital about 1 hour 30 minutes away from home and was told that they would be casting him for a while.
A few weeks after applying several casts, nothing changed. The family decided to stop seeking for help. Before they discontinued clinic, they were told that the only way to fix Timothy’s leg would be through surgery. This made them shy away the more. Timothy learned how to walk with his left leg bent awkwardly around the knee and that became his new normal.
Timothy is neighbour to a family that has been coming to CURE Kenya for treatment. In fact, the dad to a little girl who was treated here and is almost completing her treatment told Timothy and his family about CURE Kenya. He brought them to a mobile clinic near their town and they were able to see a doctor. Timothy’s brother was told about the need for surgery and was told to go home and wait to be called to bring his brother to the hospital.
Just like the first time, they went home hopeless, thinking that this was another dead end because they didn’t have money. The only thing that was different this time was that someone so close to them had experienced transformational surgery and it gave them hope. A few weeks later Timothy’s brother was called and told to bring Timothy to CURE Kenya. They are here now and are very grateful to God. “We have great faith that we will be treated and that Timothy will be healed.” Timothy’s brother told us. Please be praying with us for Timothy’s procedure to be a success and that the recovery process goes well.
Timothy and his brother are going home today! We will see them again in a couple of months when Timothy comes back for a review. We thank God because after the three months, Timothy will be ready to start physical therapy to help with some range of motion for his knee. Please pray for journey mercies as they travel home and pray that God will heal Timothy completely!
Timothy’s surgery was a success! It didn’t even take as long as the first one did and he was soon back to his bed with his brother watching over him. We are grateful to God for the milestones Timothy has been able to achieve and for the transformation that is taking shape. Thank you so much for giving your time to pray and for the gifts you give to our kids. May God bless you abundantly.
Majory an anesthetist at CURE Kenya was the one with the pleasure of prepping Timothy for his procedure this morning! After checking that everything was okay both in his file and in his emotions, Majory prayed for Timothy and walked him into the operating room. The procedure was a success and Timothy is already back to his bed ready to start the recovery process. Thank you for standing with Timothy.
We are glad to see Timothy back here at CURE Kenya. His transformation is continuing to take shape and he can now walk! He is back for the second part of his surgery which involves making his knee more flexible so he can walk better. We kindly ask you to pray for Timothy’s upcoming surgery.
For the first time, Timothy was able to see his leg without a cast today! Although it was a bit scary to see the scar, he seemed surprised by how different he now looks. We are happy for the progress he has made and we pray for continued healing!
Yesterday, we had a little Christmas celebration in the ward! There was a skit from the story of Jesus’ birth, singing, and CAKE!!! Timothy’s cast may have made it hard to get up, but he didn’t miss out on the cake or even the soda. Today, he is playing with a balloon with a friend in the bed next to him. We’re glad that although he can’t leave his bed quite yet, he can still have some fun!
It's been a hard day for our friend Timothy because of after surgery pain. We are praying that God takes away the pain and makes him smile again very soon. Timothy's brother is here taking care of him and that is making the process a bit easier to handle.
Timothy went to the operating room today. Even before a cast was applied to Timothy’s leg, you could see the transformation through surgery. The doctor showed us how far Timothy will be able to bend his knee, and he took us through the process that will enable him to achieve at least 90 degrees flexion. This is exciting! Please thank God with us for this.
