CURE in Kenya

The picture above is of CURE in Kenya. Everyone who serves with CURE in Kenya, from medical professionals to office staff, are dedicated to providing the highest quality medical and spiritual care to people who, without CURE, couldn't find it and couldn't afford it, just like Abel. To do that, we're inviting you to partner with us.

We need to raise approximately $1000 to treat children like Abel. When you give a gift through Abel's CUREkids profile, your contribution will help us continue our work in countries like Kenya. Have more questions? Ask us.

Monthly Giving: Be a Hero!

When you partner with us monthly, we'll send you an email each month to introduce you to a different child who was helped because of your generosity. You can choose to follow their updates and send them get well messages. That means that each year, you're a part of helping 12 different children, beginning with Abel. We call it being a CURE Hero!

Got it. Thanks for the explanation.

Meet Abel!
Abel was born with two kinds of physical challenges: one being clubfoot, the second being a problem with his knees. Evelyne, Abel’s mom, told us that she Immediately noticed immediately that Abel was disabled and was shocked! Their firstborn son did not have a disability, and they did not understand why this had happened to Abel.

The nurses at the hospital explained to them that clubfoot could be treated. Evelyne was referred to CURE Kenya by a doctor who worked at the hospital where she delivered Abel. When she brought her son to CURE Kenya, they were introduced to the ponsetti method for clubfoot correction. After a few visits, a doctor suggested surgery for Abel's condition.

Evelyne is looking forward to the transformation Abel is about to receive. She is a christian, and she often takes her sons to church with her. She believes that God is going to heal Abel and that he will stand and walk in the future. Please pray for Abel’s procedure.

Yesterday was a public holiday in Kenya, and we were not able to see Abel and his mom. Abel was discharged and allowed to go home to recover. We hope to see him and his mom in six weeks when they come for a check-up.

Shortly after he had had his breakfast this morning, Abel took a nap and we found him sound asleep right next to his mom. His mother told us that they had a good night except for a few moments when Abel couldn’t sleep due to the pain. He was given some pain killers which are helping. The doctors intend to observe Abel today and maybe tomorrow before he can go home. Photo of Abel

Abel's procedure was successful! He had his femur shortened in order to straighten his leg. Next, a cast will be placed on his leg to hold it in position and as it heals. We are grateful to God that Abel received corrective surgery today, and we are praying for his smooth and quick recovery. Photo of Abel
