CURE in Kenya

The picture above is of CURE in Kenya. Everyone who serves with CURE in Kenya, from medical professionals to office staff, are dedicated to providing the highest quality medical and spiritual care to people who, without CURE, couldn't find it and couldn't afford it, just like Hawa. To do that, we're inviting you to partner with us.

We need to raise approximately $1000 to treat children like Hawa. When you give a gift through Hawa's CUREkids profile, your contribution will help us continue our work in countries like Kenya. Have more questions? Ask us.

Monthly Giving: Be a Hero!

When you partner with us monthly, we'll send you an email each month to introduce you to a different child who was helped because of your generosity. You can choose to follow their updates and send them get well messages. That means that each year, you're a part of helping 12 different children, beginning with Hawa. We call it being a CURE Hero!

Got it. Thanks for the explanation.

My first impression of Hawa was that she was a bold, decisive, very intelligent young girl. And true to my initial impressions, Hawa was all that and more. She was born into a Muslim family, but by the time she was about 7 years old, she opted to become a Christian. “I go to the Presbyterian Church,” she told me. In regards to how she ended up at CURE, Hawa was helping out her mother at home one morning, when she stepped on an old toilet bowl to get to the window. Unfortunately, she slid into it, and it broke on her leg. Though most of the wounds are now healed, there is a constant infection that she still continues to deal with. We treated the damaged tissue in her foot, so I’m hoping the infection is now a thing of the past.

Hawa's case is complete - So, I don't think we will be seeing Hawa again, her parents and her aunt are confident that she is okay, so unless something else comes up, (which we pray against), we consider her discharged . Thank you so much for the prayers and financial support that you gave towards her. May our good Lord richly reward you.

We are therefore working on getting her a review date when she gets home for the holidays. Let's be praying for her.

Hawa's follow up appointment has been scheduled for 06/13/2012 - Hawa does not look the type that would miss an appointment, so I want to believe that there is a very authentic reason why she did not show up at the clinic today.

Before leaving the hospital last time, Hawa had been advised to do bandage changes for the first 5 days, then she could resume using her foot & wearing shoes normally. When her and her mom showed up for her review today, doctors were pleased to see that they followed every bit of the instructions. So her stitches were taken out, and we're set to see them again in June for a final follow up :) http://bit.ly/wTRFZx Photo of Hawa
