“I want to be a soccer player someday!” Fozal told us with a smile. Fozal’s favorite thing is soccer but because of his condition it is difficult for him to play with his friends. He was born with a condition called clubfoot which made his left foot curve inwards. His condition makes walking both difficult and painful. Thankfully, a CURE Ethiopia partner organization called Cheshire homes found Fozal and was able to connect him to us! Fozal is a first grader who loves school so much. Now that he is admitted for surgery, Fozal is one step closer to both continuing with school and showing his friends up on the soccer field!
Fozal is still having fun in the ward! Today, we found him sitting on his wheelchair next to his friend Umessa and they were coloring a coloring book. He is doing great and healing very well. Please keep on praying for him!
Fozal is doing great and having fun in the ward! He is still waiting for his operation, but while waiting, he is enjoying his time and playing with his friends in the ward! Keep on praying for this young boy!
We checked up on Fozal during his temperature and pressure check with Nurse Hanna. He is in good health and is doing very well. He is still recovering from the cast change a few days ago and will still need one more operation to completely straighten his foot. He will have his next surgery early next week! Please keep on praying for this young boy!
Ethiopia operates on the Ethiopian calendar which is made up of 13 months and starts in early September. This past weekend was New Years and Fozal spent it resting and healing up here at CURE Ethiopia. It's not the most exciting New Years ever, but his surgery has been the start of a new period of Fozal's life! Fozal celebrated a little this Monday by stealing our Storyteller's hat and trying it out. Not long after, he headed back to the OR for a cast change! Thank you for all your prayers. Progress is being made!
Fozal is doing surprisingly well for just having received his surgery. He says he's not in any pain and is getting used to life in a wheelchair for the next few weeks. As he was hanging out, CURE Ethiopia Child Mentor Temesgen snuck up behind him to try and scare him. While we didn't have video rolling at the time, check out this video to see an image sequence of Fozal's response! https://youtu.be/arY3iReUmFQ
Fozal did great in the OR! He had a tendon lengthening on his left foot which will help make walking more comfortable for him. It went super well! He also got a long leg cast put on to help keep his foot straight as his tendons heal. He is back in the ward resting. Thank you so much for your prayers!
Meet Fozal! He is a friendly young guy who is at CURE Ethiopia getting ready for his operation. He'll be having an surgery on his left foot which will help straighten it out and allow him to walk comfortably. Please keep this young man in your prayers!
