When you partner with us monthly, we'll send you an email each month to introduce you to a different child who was helped because of your generosity. “When they saw her, everyone told me to throw her away, but I kept her” says Tedeg’s mother Mebrate as she tears up.

After hearing different comments about her new daughter, Mebrate decided to name her ‘Tedeg’ which means "let her grow" in their language. Tedeg and Mebrate have come to CURE Ethiopia seeking help for Tedeg’s cleft lip. After hearing about the hospital from a previous patient of ours, they made the long trip to our hospital and this is their very first time seeking medical help. Tedeg doesn’t want to show her face in public because people in her village say mean things when they see her while others won't leave her alone asking questions and drawing even more attention to how she is different from everyone else. For the same reasons, Tedeg has not started school and this is the one thing she wants more than anything else.

Now that Tedeg is here, our surgeons will correct her lip, transforming her face, and her outlook on life. Pray with us that as Tedeg goes through this healing process, that she will live up to her name and be able to grow!

We found Tedeg hanging out in the CURE Ethiopia lobby. She is back for her check-up but she is still confused and a little wary around the staff. Her wound from her operation is healing well, but still needs some time to completely heal. She will continue her healing from home and we will see her again in three months when she returns for her check-up! Photo of Tedeg

Tedeg is doing well and it is time to go home! She's become a little hesitant with all the CURE staff as she's not quite sure who to blame for the slight post-op pain, but we can't wait to see how she feels when she's all healed up! She will continue her healing from home and we will see her agin in a bit when she returns for her check-up. Please keep this girl in your prayers for a speed recovery! Photo of Tedeg

We met up with Tedeg in the ward this morning, waiting for her turn to go to the operation room. As you might expect, she was a little scared, but at the same time she was eager to have her operation so she can see what it's like to have a lip like everyone else. Please keep praying for this sweet child! Photo of Tedeg

Tedeg came to the hospital today wearing a beautiful traditional dress! She's understandably a little nervous being in the hospital, but she's exploring the ward and making a few friends! Keep this sweet child in your prayers! Photo of Tedeg
