“I want to see her walk to school just like her siblings” says Musiro, Sadiya's father.
Sadiya and her father Musiro have come to CURE Ethiopia seeking help for Sadiya’s knock knees. When she was three years old, her family noticed her legs weren't straight and her knees were slanting inwards, hitting each other as she walked. Their first attempt for treatment was going to some local medical centers and hospital closer to their city, but nowhere could give Sadiya the help she needed. Her family didn’t stop the searching though. They finally a hospital that told them about us here at CURE Ethiopia and Sadiya and Musiro have made the long journey here!

Having been traveling to so many different hospitals and being sick most of the time, Sadiya couldn’t start school when she was supposed to. Her family is looking forward to her being healed and her finally being able to start school. She is the second child of her parents and she has two sisters and two brothers. Her parents are farmers and they are thankful to have found a place that would help them heal their daughter! Join us in welcoming this family while they start their healing journey!

Thank you all for your prayers. Sadiya is doing great and already getting up and out of bed on her wheelchair. She's entertaining herself with her pink balloon and finding ways to keep herself busy as her leg is starting to heal itself. Keep on praying for this sweet child! Photo of Sadiya

Sadiya's surgery went great! She had a knock knee corrective surgery on her right leg. Here you can see Dr. Laurence and Dr. Bekalu putting in an 8-plate (called this because it looks like the number eight). This plate will help guide the bones in her right leg as they grow, slowly allowing her body to straighten itself out which is always the better option than massively invasive surgeries. Please keep Sadiya in your prayers for a speedy recovery! Photo of Sadiya

Just a little update, Sadiya's operation went well! As planned, the lower and upper parts of her left leg were successfully straightened.
