“When I grow-up I want to become a doctor and help every child who has problems like mine” Eshete told us.

Eshete is such a bright young boy who has come to CURE Ethiopia with his older sister Tigist seeking help for his brittle bone disease. “His bones always break and we never knew what to do. The last time it happened, we took him to a traditional healer but that did not help” says Tigist. She continues, “We have been to different hospitals and they told me he needs an amputation, so I decided to take him back home, refusing the treatment”. The family refuses to give up hope and kept looking for help until they heard about us here at CURE Ethiopia. While there is no cure for brittle bone disease, we will be able to straighten his leg as well as help reinforce his bones to help minimize future breaks!

Eshete is in school and he is in the third grade, “I love learning but some of the children there makes fun of my leg and I don’t like that”. Eshete told us. Eshete has not walked since the age of five, and for the past couple of years his sister Tigist has had to carry him to school and back. One year ago though, he got a wheelchair and start using that to move around.

Eshete lives with his parents who are farmers and they are thankful to have found a place that would give them all the help Eshete needs. Join us welcoming the family while they start their healing journey!
