“I want to be a nurse!” Tsion tells us excitedly, dreaming of a future that is influenced by her past. When Tsion was just two years old, a pot of boiling water was accidentally spilled on her, badly burning her face. Her family rushed her to a hospital near their village but her skin still healed in a way where her face is essentially melted into her chest. “I have been to different places, but no one can help" she told us. Kids in her school and in her neighborhood make fun of her because of her burns and the laughs hurt. “I'm so sad and worried about her" her mom Amarech tells us. "When she was little she was okay, all the bullying didn't hurt her as much, but now it makes her sad.”
Now that Tsion is here at CURE Ethiopia, we will get her the surgery she needs to released her burned skin and we will also work with her to help her see how beautiful she really is! Please join us in welcoming this family as they start their healing journey.
The bandage on Tsion's eye is off and she is seeing clearly! She is doing well and the wound from her operation is healing too. She still needs another burn contracture release surgery on her neck and for that we will see her in June when she returns for her admission!
"I can't see clearly because my left eye is covered, but other than that I'm doing well" Tsion explained. She is recovering well and getting ready to go home! We will see her progress in a couple of days when she returns for her check-up. Keep praying for this young woman!
Tsion is back at CURE Ethiopia getting ready for her next surgery! She will be having a burn contracture release on her right eyelid. As with last time, please be praying for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery!
"Before having this surgery I could not lift my head or move my neck, but now, I can do all of those things," says Tsion smiling. She is showing great progress. She still needs a couple of operations on her face to completely heal her burn contracture. We will see her in a couple of months when she returns. Keep on praying for this young girl!
Tsion is going back home today. She got a neck brace on for the coming couple of days to support her neck. We will see her at the end of this week when she returns for her check-up. Please keep on praying for her!
Take a little peek into Tsion's surgery. Dr. Tesfaye did a wonderful job releasing all the burned skin on Tsion's neck. She is doing great and resting in the ward. Please keep on praying for her as the hard of recovering now starts.
"I love school and playing with my friends". Tsion told us. She is here at CURE Ethiopia getting ready for her operation. She'll be having the burned skin on her neck released in order to allow her to move her head freely again! Please keep this young girl in your prayers!
