Rahmet is a sweet little girl! She came to CURE Ethiopia with her mother seeking help for her knock knees. This isn't the first hospital Rahmet and Amina have sought help at. The hospital before us tried their best but ultimately didn't have the doctors and resources to deal with knock knees like Rahmet's. Thankfully, this hospital did know about us here at CURE Ethiopia and referred Rahmet to us! Rahmet comes from a rural area where there are mixed opinions on seeking medical care. Many believe hospitals are just a place where people go to die and criticized Amina for seeking help. Ultimately Amina was vindicated, “I'm so glad I brought her to a hospital because, now she is getting the help she needs”. Join us welcoming this sweet child as she starts her healing journey here with us at CURE Ethiopia!
Little Rahmet was a bit shy today. When we said hi, she was giggling and trying to hide her face from us. Her mom Amina was wheeling her around and playing with her. It's hard work keeping this young one entertained as she focused on her healing!
Rahmet has had her surgery! It was a pretty straight forward, but intense surgery. The doctors essentially removed a wedge of her bone which gave them the space they needed to then "break" her leg straight. She was asleep and didn't feel a thing, but we can imagine, when she wakes up, she won't be a big fan of the bulky cast she now has on her left leg!
