“I want to be healed and start school soon, because I want to be a police man when I grow-up,” Feyisa tells us of his future dream job.

We found Feyisa and his father Geda at one of our mobile clinics, they came in for help with Feyisa’s clubfoot problem. This was their first hospital visit for Feyisa and they came in after hearing about CURE Ethiopia hospital through the media. When Feyisa’s mother was seven months pregnant with Feyisa, she accidentally fell and hurt herself. After that she used to tie her belly with some clothing until she delivered, and the family thought that Feyisa's clubfoot was caused by that. “Feyisa could not start school because it is far from our house and it is hard for him to walk there,” explains Geda, Feyisa’s father and he continues, “Children in our village stare at him and make fun of him too. I just hope that all these things stop and for him to be healthy so that he could go to school and run around like the other children." Feyisa is the first born for his family who are farmers, and he has a brother and a sister. Join us in providing the treatment and healing Feyisa needs so that he could start school soon!

Feyisa is done with his frame treatment! He has had the frames on for the past three and half months. They've done a great job straightening his feet. And, as we had updated you, he started the frame removal last week with his left foot and, yesterday, he had a frame removal on the right foot. Both of his legs are now wrapped up in long leg casts. From here on out, it's just a waiting game as his body heals up so the doctors have discharged him! He'll head home with instructions to come back in six weeks when we'll check in on how he's doing! Spending as much time as Feyisa has in our ward, but he's making the most the most of it. On any given day, we can find him in one of two places: either wheeling around the ward (like we did today) or in the playroom watching movies! While it might not be the most fun way to spend your days, it's definitely not the worst either! Photo of Feyisa

Good news! Feyisa had one of his frames completely removed today instead of just an adjustment. The plan was for Feyissa to have a frame adjustment on both feet, but the frame had done it's job so well on his left foot, the doctors made the call it could come off! The frame on his right foot was still adjusted, but the doctors are thinking that one can come off next week! Things are moving fast for this young man and we are excited! Photo of Feyisa

Today Feyisa was trying his hand at some crafts. He was painting a paper to make flowers and a tree. Being cooped up in the hospital, gives him ample opportunity to dream of the outside world and how he'll run and play in it all once he's finished his treatment! Please join us in praying this is sooner rather than later! Photo of Feyisa

Feyisa is healing up well from his surgery! Today, we found him in a wheelchair, wheeling around and enjoying the beautiful day.
