“I want to be healed and start school soon, because I want to be a police man when I grow-up,” Feyisa tells us of his future dream job.

We found Feyisa and his father Geda at one of our mobile clinics, they came in for help with Feyisa’s clubfoot problem. This was their first hospital visit for Feyisa and they came in after hearing about CURE Ethiopia hospital through the media. When Feyisa’s mother was seven months pregnant with Feyisa, she accidentally fell and hurt herself. After that she used to tie her belly with some clothing until she delivered, and the family thought that Feyisa's clubfoot was caused by that. “Feyisa could not start school because it is far from our house and it is hard for him to walk there,” explains Geda, Feyisa’s father and he continues, “Children in our village stare at him and make fun of him too. I just hope that all these things stop and for him to be healthy so that he could go to school and run around like the other children." Feyisa is the first born for his family who are farmers, and he has a brother and a sister. Join us in providing the treatment and healing Feyisa needs so that he could start school soon!

Thank you all for making this young boy happy! One of our counselors Tewodros read him all your get-well messages! Feyisa was excited to hear from all of you. He is doing well as he continues with his daily frame turnings and just hanging out in the ward. Photo of Feyisa

Feyisa was feeling extra sweet today as he was given a lollipop! He is working hard having his frame adjusted everyday and his foot is getting straighter and straighter with every turn. Please keep praying for him as frame adjustments are not a fun process! Photo of Feyisa

Feyisa has been spending most time going between resting in bed and rolling around the grounds in his wheelchair with his father Geda. He is doing well and continuing his healing. Keep on praying for a speedy recovery! Photo of Feyisa

Feyisa has had his second surgery and is resting up in bed. He had a frame put on his foot which will allow the doctors to slowly straighten out his clubfoot over the next several weeks! He's not too pumped on having these big cages on his feet, but he is well and doing his best to enjoy his time here. Please be praying for a quick recovery so he can get back to moving around freely! Feyisa is healing up well from his surgery! Today, we found him in a wheelchair, wheeling around and enjoying the beautiful day. He's not quite feeling up to playing with the other kids at this moment - a mix between feeling shy and still feeling a little not like himself after surgery - but him and his dad Geda are spending some quality time together!
