What am I giving to?

CURE in Ethiopia

The picture above is of CURE in Ethiopia. Everyone who serves with CURE in Ethiopia, from medical professionals to office staff, are dedicated to providing the highest quality medical and spiritual care to people who, without CURE, couldn't find it and couldn't afford it, just like Yakob. To do that, we're inviting you to partner with us.

We need to raise approximately $1000 to treat children like Yakob. When you give a gift through Yakob's CUREkids profile, your contribution will help us continue our work in countries like Ethiopia. Have more questions? Ask us.

Monthly Giving: Be a Hero!

When you partner with us monthly, we'll send you an email each month to introduce you to a different child who was helped because of your generosity. You can choose to follow their updates and send them get well messages. That means that each year, you're a part of helping 12 different children, beginning with Yakob. We call it being a CURE Hero!

Got it. Thanks for the explanation.

"Kids in my school make fun of my legs and the way of I walk. It always makes me very sad and I want that to stop,” Yakob told us.
Yakob is a third grader who loves school and loves to learn but has had issues with kids at school because of his knock knees. We met him at one of our mobile clinics in a city closer to his village. He came to the clinic with his mother Kelemua. “He used to be fine, walk around without being tired and playing with his friends too, but through time his leg problems have gotten worse and I started asking around for help. I finally came across to an organization called Cheshire and they told me about the CURE Ethiopia Hospital,” explains Kelemua, Yakob’s mother. Yakob comes from a big family, he has five siblings - two sisters and three brothers. “I get so tired easily. I have to take a break in between walking to school and I cannot run with my friends either. But I want that all to stop and to be healed and do everything like my friends,” he told us when we asked what he is looking forward to the most after his operation. Join us in welcoming Yakob as he starts his healing journey. Please pray that his surgery not only heals his body but that there will be spiritual and emotional healing that takes place. We would also desire that healing would be an avenue that makes school and learning fun again!

Yakob had been scheduled to be admitted for surgery way back in June, but he didn't show up. Thankfully though, he's finally resurfaced and we were able to get him a new admission date in two weeks! Please be praying for him as he prepares himself and that he'll actually show up this time! Photo of Yakob

Yakob will have surgeries on both legs and we will see him at the beginning of June for his admission! Our doctors plan to operate first on his right leg and once that heals, will move to the left leg. Please keep Yakob in your prayers! Photo of Yakob
