"I'm looking forward to being healed and continuing my school!" proclaims Kassalem.

Kassalem is a friendly young boy who has come to the CURE Ethiopia hospital for treatment for his neglected clubfoot. "When he was little, the clinic I went to told me to take him to a hospital in the capital but I could not afford to take him to any other hospital," says Agegnhu, Kassalem's father and he continued, "I'm glad we have finally found a place that could help us now." Kassalem was in grade five when he stopped going to school, "Kids in his school used to bully him and he quit his school because of that," Agegnhu told us. After quitting school, Kassalem moved out of his village looking for work and he is working now. "If it is in God's will, I want to continue my school,, says Kassalem. His parents are farmers and he has five siblings, three sisters and two brothers. Please join us in welcoming Kassalem and his father and praying for his treatment!

His hand is all healed and he doesn’t need any follow-up for that. He also saw Dr. Mesfin for his foot and Dr. Mesfin told him everything looks good and to continue waling with his brace for the coming couple of months. We will see him again at one of our mobile clinics near his home town! Photo of Kassalem

Kassalem came back to CURE Ethiopia in order to pick up his foot brace! His cast removal was a little uncomfortable, but Lelisa, one of our physical therapists was asking him questions to distract him and it worked! Kassalem got his brace and will wear it as he practices walking and going about his life. The whole idea of the brace is that it will make sure his foot stays nice and straight and there is no "re-curving" that happens. We will check up on him again in two months to see how it's all coming together! Photo of Kassalem

Kassalem was asking Dr. Tesfye to discharge him and send him back to our partner organization that helps us lodge patients. Kassalem says all his friends are there and our CURE Ethiopia ward is a little boring for him. Unfortunately for Kassalem, Dr.Tesfaye wasn't having any of it as Kassalem still needs a few more dressings changes for his surgical wounds to heal up properly. Once we're all clear there, then Kassalem can go back. Please keep this young man in your prayers, for determination and strength! Photo of Kassalem
