“I’m looking forward to being healed and going back to school!” Fetiya shares with excitement.
Feiya is a friendly young woman and has come to CURE Ethiopia with her uncle Abdi, seeking treatment for her burn contracture. When she was a couple of months old, there was a fire accident in her house and both of her legs were burned. She went to a local clinic to treat the burn right away, but as the wounds healed, her skin contracted and now needs treatment to release it so her foot can lay flat. Abdi heard about CURE Ethiopia from their relatives and came straight to Addis Ababa. “I could not walk to school like I use to because as I get older, walking long distances becomes very tiring. My school is far from home and I could not continue going there,” says Fetiya. She continued, “I was in the eighth grade when I stopped school and it has been three years now.” Fetiya has four brothers and two sisters, she told us that both of her parents passed away recently and she is living with her grandmother. Please join us welcoming and praying for Fetiya while she starts her healing journey!
