“I want to be healed and help the organization that took me in,” says Wondemeneh.

Wondemeneh is a friendly young man and he came to our clinic at CURE seeking help for his knee and hip problems. He went to a clinic to see a doctor for his headache and the nurses saw his condition and told him about CURE hospital. Wondemeneh does not remember exactly when, but at the age of five or six he couldn't walk like he used to and he started using a stick to help him get around. At that time, his parents took him to a traditional healer but that did not bring about any changes. Wondemeneh told us he likes shining shoes and that is the reason he quit school. That happened four years ago while he was in grade four. After doing some shoe shining in his city, he decided to come to the capital and see if there were more opportunities. He didn't know anyone here, so he started living on the street. Wondemeneh told us he has never met his father and does not know anything about him, his mother is married now and he has three siblings. ”One day I decided to take a train, it took me somewhere that I did not know and when we reached the final stop to leave the train, I did too. I started walking around and I was so tired, did not have any money or anyone, so I sleep on the street. The people from an organization called Mekodenia found me and they took me in.” Wondemeneh told us how he found a home and he continues, “I like the home, I get to help the old people shining and fixing their shoes.” Please join us in welcoming Wondemeneh while he starts his healing journey soon!
