The long wait is over and Henry finally had surgery! Dr. Moyo did a procedure to correct Henry's leg and stabilize the bone with pins. The surgery went well and our boy is now recovering in the ward. We thank God for Henry’s successful surgery!

Dr. Moyo checked how Gerald was doing in the ward and we are glad to say that he is doing well. Our physical therapist did an assessment to see how he can be mobilized best. Gerald may be discharged some time this week!

Abdoulaye's mom brought him along for some fresh air while she washed her clothes outside. It's good for patients to get out from the ward every once in a while to get some sun, change of scenery, and a little peace and quiet. These days we're pretty busy so there's always something going on the ward. In general, Abdoulaye is recovering well from surgery. He's a bit more tired and puffy-eyed than usual, but soon he should be feeling back to his normal self.

This morning, Imane examined her hand closely after physical therapy. "You've been playing in the sand," said Physical Therapy Assistant Saleye as she unwrapped Imane's bandage to reveal her hand. "I see it even on your open wound," she said. Imane is a very active little girl, so it's no wonder why she doesn't let her bandage stop her from having fun. However, she needs to be more protective of her hand so it will not get infected. Otherwise, it'll prolong her healing process. Pray for self-control for her and that her mom would have the strength and energy to take special care of Imane to keep her surgery wound clean.

Abdoul Malik was not so sure about leaving the protective arms of his mom and being carried by Maria, a stranger in his eyes, as they went into the OR. But Maria has plenty of practice in comforting little patients as she prepares them for surgery, so he soon calmed down. After putting him to sleep, our OR team got to work, releasing Abdoul Malik's toes and taking a small flap of skin from his stomach to cover the newly expanded sole of his foot. Now Abdoul Malik is recovering in the ward, back in the safety of his mom's watch.
