Anicha

Niger - Infant
July 23, 2021

Anicha was feeling great today, she was colouring a book when we visited her and her mother. Anicha will be staying in the ward for a few more days because of the metal in her right leg. The nurses in the ward told us that Anicha is following her medication well. As she is recovering, Anicha also creates joy and fun moments for herself and people around her. Please continue to pray for Anicha's recovery, pray for her to heal well until the doctor removes the metal in her right leg.

Gali

Niger - Age 18
July 23, 2021

"I will catch you, I will catch you!" Gali teased. We had some fun moments today as Gali raced around in a challenge. We had the opportunity to capture the moment when Gali was pushing his wheelchair with all his strength and running after Angel. Gali was in a good mood, he was very brave and wanted to make an effort to overcome his pain and be a winner. It was wonderful to see Gali fighting and committing himself to go forward. His health is getting better and he is gaining more of a sense of humor every day. Thank you for your prayers for Gali's health! Thank you also for supporting and loving him since his first day at CURE Niger Children's Hospital.

Issoufou

Niger - Age 11
July 23, 2021

"I carry out a bucket, full of water, with my left hand every day!" said Issoufou, enthusiastically. Sodogas, one of our physiotherapists, recommended that Issoufou keep exercising his arm's flexibility while at home. Issoufou told us that he was respecting the instructions and he worked very hard to see his arm healed completely. Issoufou came with his mother to have a massage. We met them in the physiotherapy room and Issoufou's mother massaged his arm with menthol ointment. "A te dama gumo" which means "He has improved a lot," said Issoufou's mother, happily. We thank God for His faithfulness in the life of Issoufou. Issoufou looked at his left arm and smiled, rejoicing in the new person he is becoming. Thank you for your prayers!

Alfred

Zimbabwe - Age 12
July 23, 2021

All smiles from Alfred in the ward! He experienced some post-op discomfort yesterday but woke up feeling much better today. Physiotherapist Dominic assessed the way forward and helped him back on his feet. Since he already had a hard time keeping his balance before the accident, he will most likely use a walker to help him start walking again. Thank you for continuing to support Alfred through thought and prayer!

Rose

Uganda - Infant
July 23, 2021

Enock was at the Outpatient department taking details of Rose soon after her arrival. "I would like to tell you that I do not have any money now, but I desperately need help for my baby," James opened up. "Please do not worry about money, we have friends who have paid for Rose to have her treatment," Enock responded, All you have to do, is take great care of her while at the hospital," he added.

James lifted up his hand with thanksgiving and mixed sighs of disbelief of what he had just heard. Our doctors hope to work on Rose next week, please pray for this beautiful family and thank you for supporting surgery for children like Rose!
