Oasis Hospital Renamed Kanad

On December 22nd, 2019, CURE’s hospital in the United Arab Emirates was renamed from Oasis hospital to Kanad hospital under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

Kanad hospital is located in the city of Al Ain, east of the capital city of Abu Dhabi. The hospital opened in November 1960 at the invitation of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and his brother, Sheikh Shakhbut. They asked Dr. Pat and Dr. Marian Kennedy to open the hospital after experiencing American medical care in Muscat and Bahrain. Since the hospital opened, access to health care has improved dramatically in Al Ain.

CURE acquired the hospital in 2006, and in 2015, the hospital moved into a new building thanks to a generous gift from the Al Nahyan family. The hospital features expanded bed space, a state-of-the-art birthing center, NICU beds, and has become the premier hospital in the region for maternal and child care.

Among the changes, Dr. Tim Fincher was appointed to serve as the CEO of Kanad hospital in January 2020. Dr. Fincher’s preparation, passion, and leadership will ensure that Kanad hospital remains true to it’s calling for the region to provide quality and compassionate care to the community they serve.
