May 2018 Prayer Guide

Dear friends,

Earnest Kioko, CURE’s Spiritual Ministry Senior Director, recently shared from the book of Nehemiah and what God put into his heart to do (7:5). While we might have no problem believing that God spoke to prophets and biblical writers in times past, we might be less confident that our thoughts are also motivated by God, that the decision or action we are considering is something God is putting into our hearts.

Yet Scripture assures us that the Lord is near (Psalm 145:18Philippians 4:5). If He is, wouldn’t His nearness influence our daily decisions and actions? What might happen, Earnest wondered, when we become confident that what we want to do is what God has put into our hearts? The question encourages me to pay attention to what is in my heart and to ask myself if what I’m considering might be motivated by God.

“Everytime I feel the spirit moving in my heart I will pray” is a line in an old Spiritual. The best way to know the things God is putting into our hearts is to respond—to do or say or pray whatever He puts into our hearts. Today, thank you for responding to God in your thoughts and prayers for CURE.

Praying with you,

Cathy Morgan
Anchoress
