April 2018 Prayer Guide
She gave this name to the LORD who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.” Genesis 16:13
The verse above is spoken by Ishmael’s mother Hagar, surrogate to childless Abraham and Sarai, and is Hagar’s personal revelation about God: “I have now seen the One who sees me,” she says. God then reveals to her what He has seen; that the child she carries is a son, already named, and that other sons will follow.1 Though greater difficulties await,2 she has a name by which to call on God: El Roi—God Sees. Though Hagar will still be seen as a slave when she returns to Sarai, she’ll be living in a new day as future mother of a powerful son—eventually mother of nations.3
Many of us at CURE are facing new days: Malawi and Philippines have welcomed new executive directors and Philippines and Kenya have have each welcomed new spiritual directors; the spiritual ministry team network-wide is under new direction; and our mission support center in Central PA is moving to a new location. That’s a lot of new! And as with Hagar’s experience, joy is often mixed with challenges. God sees us, though, and reveals not only Himself but the revelation of who we are, what we’ve been called to, and the the Holy Spirit within us to powerfully move us forward.
Thank you for your partnership in praying for us to be faithful to our mission—the continued mission of Christ—to heal the sick and proclaim the kingdom. Each day we hear testimonies from patients and families in our care expressing the experience of God’s love in a new way with a new understanding that God sees and knows them.
Being seen, known, and loved by God is at the heart of all human desire.
Praying with you,

CURE Ethiopia: We said good bye last month to Dalak and his mother Woineshet. Dalak came to CURE Ethiopia when he was three months old. Now he is five. Dalak had to receive different types of treatment at different times. This time they spent around five months in the hospital. They both received Bibles during their stay. Dalak was a very happy boy when he went back home.
