ROCK Team leads successful training with 3D printer in Kenya

The Rapid Orthotics for CURE Kenya (ROCK) team from Messiah College and Cunningham Clubfoot Brace for Kids team just returned from their trip to Kenya recently.

The ROCK team successfully trained several orthopedic technicians on how to create a customized fit by scanning patients’ limbs using an iPad, using orthopedic software to modify the image to “fit” the individual and transferring the information to a 3D printer. The Clubfoot team participated in all levels of Clubfoot Care for Kenya such as clinical assessment, surgeries and brace construction. They also had the opportunity to visit remote clinics. They will be using all this information in the endeavor to replicate the brace by 3D printing, while reducing its cost.
