February 2017 Prayer Guide
God calls his sons and daughters to the wilderness
But he gives grace sufficient to survive any test
And that’s the painful promise of the wilderness
Earlier this month we learned from Punxsutawney Phil that we can expect six more weeks of winter. So the cold, white wilderness of winter will continue for a little while longer as we journey towards spring. While we do, the body of Christ worldwide will enter the six-week space of Lent, remembering that Jesus emptied himself in wilderness of this world to make us new.
The idea of wilderness signifies transition and is a space where growth and development can occur. The experience, like birth, includes pain and loss but also carries hope for something new. God’s people needed the wilderness to be transformed from slaves to God’s covenant people. From his desert experience, David was shaped from shepherd to king.
Our Lord Jesus knew well the burning experience of the wilderness; when He emerges from his 40- day travail (Luke 4:1-13), He is on fire with a new mission which He immediately announces:
The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor. (Luke 4:18, 19)
What’s new about Jesus’ mission is that people who have been sidelined through history—the poor, the lame, the blind and the oppressed—are about to receive an invitation to the party (Luke 14:16-23).
As you view the prayer requests below, please pray that we will faithfully continue the ministry Jesus began in proclaiming the kingdom and healing the sick.
Praying with you,

Again pray for our ministry as we strive to serve, that the Lord may cause us to be prosperous, that he will draw souls to himself. Pray for continued unity and love of the brethren here at the facility that we may be bound together with cords of love that can not be broken so that we the world may know that we are Christ’s followers.
Please join us to pray for those who oppose spiritual activities in the hospital. May the Lord open their understanding to know that this is our DNA.
Pray that the Lord gives us ability to meet the needs of the patients and their caretakers who are coming in overwhelming numbers for help from our facility.

Remember those who will be participating in StratOp this week. StratOp is a “living” tool that gives perspective on all of the strategic, financial, and operational parts of our organization and ministry. StratOp helps you know where we are now and helps to clarify where we should go. Pray that the leaders and participants will know the guidance of the Lord as they go through the process for the hospital in Niger.

Let’s pray that the God would allow the Indian government to allow CURE International (in India, Cure Clubfoot Worldwide) to remain in India in light of the Foreign Contribution regulation Act which is enacted there to regulate outside funding for organizations there. If the government chooses not to renew its approval of CURE, as it did Compassion International, then the mission could die in that region as internal funding is scarce.
