May 2016 Prayer Guide

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Prayer is part of CURE’s DNA, and for many years, the monthly Prayer Guide has served the purpose of informing and encouraging prayer across our network. This has afforded us the opportunity to carry each other’s burdens by doing the one thing we can all do: pray.

Today, the legacy of the Prayer Guide continues in a new and exciting format. We are leveraging technology to share prayer needs in real-time on a day-to-day basis. While we will still gather together to pray on the third Wednesday of each month and will still create a monthly digest of prayer requests (you can see this month’s below), incoming requests can be viewed at any time at https://cure.org/prayer-request.

It is our hope that this change in format encourages you to pray with us regularly as requests come in throughout the month. As we pray without ceasing, we trust the Lord to answer our prayers and to sustain us. Thank you for joining us in prayer for our hospitals, programs, patients, families, and staff.

It’s difficult to break bad news to parents. We had to do this recently when, unfortunately, we had to tell parents there was nothing more we could do for their child. Please pray for God’s peace and comfort to abound to these families in the midst of heartbreaking circumstances.

Programs

We praise God for the success of CURE Clubfoot in India. Please pray for the program as it continues to move forward and the increased need for doctors and counselors that arises as a result.

In Delhi, summer is very hot, which makes it difficult for patients to come to clinics for follow-ups. In addition, many children will be going to their villages for the summer holidays. Please pray for patients and families to be able to come to clinics consistently, as proper treatment requires.

Please also pray for the logistical challenges we face in a variety of different clinic environments where adequate resources may not always be available.

Mission Support Center

For many years at headquarters, we have been shuffling staff and rearranging space in our current building, and have long since passed the point of being overcrowded. Recently, we were presented with the opportunity to move to another location (within two miles of our current location) that will support our efforts to “grow deeper and bear more fruit.” We are pleased to announce that CURE has entered into a purchase agreement for that building and we anticipate a move in later summer/early fall. We are very excited about this move, as we plan for this generation, and future generations, of our organization.

We have multiple staffing opportunities available, both at our home office and across the network. Please pray for these positions to be filled in a timely manner by the right individuals.

We are thankful for the interns who served with CURE over the spring semester and look forward to working with the interns who will be joining us at headquarters this summer. Welcome Emily, Jamie, Jessica, and Sara!

Friends

Please pray for the CURE U chapters going through leadership transitions as the new school year begins in August. Pray for a smooth transition between leaders and that the new leaders will feel encouraged and equipped to continue with a sustainable chapter: Cal Poly (SLO), Clemson, Georgia College, UGA, Liberty, University of Arkansas, and UT Austin.

CURE at the University of Georgia would appreciate prayers for one of the students, Agnes Kim, who is close friends with the CURE at UGA executive board members. She was involved in a car accident on April 27th in which four UGA students passed away. Praise God that Agnes has been transferred to one of the best rehabilitative care centers in the US. She is still in a coma, so we pray that she wakes up one day and sees how powerfully God has worked through her life and the lives of the four young women for His glory. Please pray also for the families and friends of these five students; that they may have peace in the midst of all this hardship.
