Trusting God with heart, soul, mind… and tooth fairy money

Each summer, churches around the country choose to support the ministry of CURE through their Vacation Bible School programs. It is a joy to see children here in the States helping children around the world! Not only are these Vacation Bible School programs changing the lives of our patients, but in giving, churches across the United States are being transformed through generosity.

One such story has kept us smiling for weeks on end. Pastor Bill of Tri-City Church in California mentioned CURE on Instagram earlier this summer, so I reached out to learn more about their fun-filled week of Vacation Bible School. Here’s what he had to say.

Despite us being a smaller church, God brought about 50 kids a day that came from a couple of our church ministries and from our neighborhood walks and invitations from our church body. We had 10 kids make first time decisions for Christ. God was so good to us!

Yesterday, I shared with my kids (eight and six years old) how much the total offering for CURE was from last week. They were amazed (as in mouths wide open and speechless) at what God had done. It was then that my daughter, Kendall, who is eight, shared with my wife and I that she had taken money she had received from the “tooth fairy” and gave it to CURE, knowing it will go to help a girl or boy receive a surgery instead of it going for a toy for herself. As a father (and pastor), I was quite humbled to see how God had worked in her life and through the ministry of CURE.

Kendall’s generosity has captured our hearts, put laughter in our lungs, and smiles on our faces. And we know that this story has only just begun, as Pastor Bill’s next reply indicated.

I called my wife and kids and asked if CURE could use their story to share on CURE’s social media channels. My daughter Kendall said, “Yes… but let them know that I still have more baby teeth to loose. So, I will eventually have more money from the tooth fairy to give.”

Kendall has reminded us to trust God with everything we have: with our heart, soul, mind, and tooth fairy money.

We praise God for His faithfulness to provide for His children, through His children.

We praise God for the 10 new believers who came to know Him through this Vacation Bible School program.

We praise God for Tri-City Church and their massive impact in this ministry.

We praise God for Kendall’s toothless grin.
