Summary

CURE International respects the privacy of our donors and adheres to a simple guideline in connection with your personal information: we do not use your personally identifying information, or share it with third parties, except as specified in this Privacy Policy.  Here is a summary of our guiding principles, which are covered in more detail below:

  • Information about donations is treated confidentially, in accordance with applicable law.
  • CURE International does not lend, exchange, rent, or sell our donor list to other organizations or businesses or any other third party.
  • Except for our service providers, CURE International will not disclose to any third parties the personally identifying information donors provide when making an online donation.
  • Some donors prefer anonymity. CURE will not disclose publicly the donations of contributors who specify their preference that their donation remain confidential.
  • Employees of CURE International who have access to donor personally identifying information in connection with processing donations are required to keep the information confidential.
  • Periodically donors will receive newsletters and requests for contributions. Donors have the option to be removed from the mailing list by contacting the CURE International office at (616) 512-3105 or [email protected].

How We Use Automatically Collected Data: We use the information collected automatically to measure the number of visitors to the different sections of our site and to help us make our site more useful to visitors.

Online Profile Updates and Donations

If you complete the Profile update form, we will ask for your name and email address.  This information will be used only to provide you with more targeted content.

You also may decide to send us personally identifying information, for example, in an electronic mail message containing a question or comment, or by filling out a Web form that provides us this information.

How We Use Actively Collected Data: We use personally identifying information from email primarily to respond to your requests.  For instance, we may forward your email to CURE International employees who are better able to answer your questions.  We may also use your email to contact you in the future about our programs that may be of interest. We may use your contact information to send updates regarding your account or donations, send further information about our organization or to contact you for administrative or legal reasons. You may always opt-out of receiving future mailings of a marketing nature; see the “Opt Out” section below.

We want to be very clear: We will not obtain personally identifying information about you when you visit our site, unless you choose to provide such information to us. Providing such information is strictly voluntary. Except as might be required by law, we do not share any personally identifying information you send directly to us with any outside parties.

If you sign up for one of our email lists, we will only send you the kinds of information you have requested.

Third-party Service Providers: Automatic and Active Data Collection

We have trusted business partners who provide operational support to certain aspects of our website, such as website hosting, payment processing and analytics.  Those companies may collect information about you, and you may be required to provide personally identifying information to them in connection with certain transactions.  For example, your donation cannot be processed unless you provide your credit card number and other information to our payment processor. Our third-party service providers are under contract with us.  Their collection, use, and processing of information is subject to their privacy policies, which we encourage you to read.

Opt-Out or Change Your Contact Information

Our site provides users the opportunity to opt-out of receiving communications from us. You may choose to receive only specific communications or none at all. You may also update your contact information previously provided to us. You can not remove yourself from our database, but you can prevent unwanted communication. Opt-out requests can be submitted via the link in any non-transactional email, by sending an email to [email protected] or by calling (616) 512-3105.

Security

All information provided to CURE International is transmitted using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption.  SSL is a proven coding system that lets your browser automatically encrypt, or scramble, data before you send it to us.  We also protect account information by placing it on a secure portion of our site that is only accessible by certain qualified employees of CURE International.  Unfortunately, however, no data transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.  While we strive to protect your information, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of such information.

Transfer and Processing: United States Law

CURE International is a United States not-for-profit company.  This website is subject to United States laws. We may transfer your personal information to the United States or other countries where we have operations, and it may be stored or processed there.  The laws in such countries, including the United States, may be different than the laws of your country with respect to data protection and data privacy. If you are outside the United States, you use our site at your own risk.

Other Use

Except as specified in this Privacy Policy, we will only disclose your personally identifying information to third parties as required under applicable law or court order.
