Maggie lives in Zambia and has a leg problem, and in Zambia the sort of specialty medical care Maggie needs is scarce. There are 100 million children in the world just like Maggie who have little hope for the future.
Many can't play with their friends or go to school, and when Maggie grows up, things that we hope for like marriage or finding a job will be difficult or impossible...all because Maggie has a curable disability! But you can change Maggie's life forever.
You can help

You can help Maggie right now. Maybe you can afford the $1000 that will provide the care she needs. Maybe you can offer $30. Or maybe you can introduce Maggie to others who can help...

About Maggie

Maggie hadn’t been able to walk on her right leg for a year. She had a wound on her right tibia, though her parents weren’t sure what happened. Their guess was that she was bitten by a snake. The wound was treated and her leg was put into a cast, but further treatment was put off until her wound had fully healed. Because the condition of her leg is still unstable, her treatment will be decided once she arrives at the hospital.

Maggie came to a mobile clinic in Luanshya from her village, Mimikomfwa. She had her old cast removed at the clinic to see how the would had healed. When her leg was free, some money fell out. Everyone in the clinic stated laughing, including Maggie. Her younger sister, wearing a Hello Kitty sweater, never left her sister’s side. She photobombed every shot that I took. Maggie’s mother said that her daughters didn’t need any other friends because they did everything together.

Though Maggie’s leg prevents her from walking properly, she dreams that she’ll get better. She’s supposed to come to Beit CURE on October 10, and Dr. Lastroni will decide where to go from there. Whatever Maggie’s treatment will be, I know that it will improve her life while we benefit from seeing her beautiful smile at our hospital.
