Andrew lives in Malawi and has bowed legs, and in Malawi the sort of specialty medical care Andrew needs is scarce. There are 100 million children in the world just like Andrew who have little hope for the future.
Many can't play with their friends or go to school, and when Andrew grows up, things that we hope for like marriage or finding a job will be difficult or impossible...all because Andrew has a curable disability! But you can change Andrew's life forever.

About Andrew

Sometimes you meet someone and are instantly challenged. Your views, perspectives, and general opinions on how you are living are rocked. This was the feeling when we met Andrew Maseko and his father Godknows. Andrew has severely bowed legs and is being raised by adopted parents, along with 38 brothers and sisters. No, he doesn’t live in an orphanage but a 4 bedroom house in Blantyre, under the guidance and support of Godknows. When asked how he manages to raise so many children under one roof, Godknows gives credit to the Lord’s provision and the many neighbors touched by his actions that donate food, time, and money.

Andrew is a lucky boy and isn’t quite old enough to fully realize his fortunate situation. Andrew was being abused by his biological mother and Godknows intervened and eventually adopted the child through Social Affairs. He is scheduled to check into the hospital on October 21 and have surgery on both of his bowed legs. Godknows will be by Andrew’s side during his time with us, while his wife is at home with the rest of their adopted clan.

All in all, that "clan" is made up of 19 boys and 20 girls. Some are abandoned, some are orphans. Others were neglected and abused. A few are HIV positive. Regardless of the details though, all are reaping the benefits of a Godly man with a mission to save Malawian children. Andrew’s story is heartbreaking but beautiful at the same time. He is going to be a different little boy soon. We can’t wait to spend more time with both Andrew and his father, and I hope you'll join us on their journey to healing.

  5. Day 42Andrew is still at CURE. He has visitors and staff stopping by to see him most of the day. His mother has been by his side since he came back 4 weeks ago. The CURE doctors had to amputate his foot which was best case scenario with his circulation issues. We thought he would lose his entire leg initially. He's still the happiest kid in the ward. With a prosthetic, Andrew will function normally. God has given him a great story and I have faith that this little boy will touch many, many lives. Learn more at http://bit.ly/cKsZxj

  9. Day 9Andrew is getting ready to go home later today. He will stay in the full leg casts until December 4 when we'll see him again. He is stable enough to check out and head home. He's smiling today and we managed to get him to laugh by showing him how to take a picture by putting his finger on the shutter button. He also loved his get well cards. http://bit.ly/VMsQEQ

  13. Day 6Check out the video of Andrew in the waiting area of the operating room. So playful, no more bowed legs for this guy! He's in recovery mode and wants his dad to "buy new legs" because he doesn't think his legs are beneath his casts. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_Aa_0EXBgQ&feature=share&list=UUmWP42h89_ewQZGchCLneXw

  15. Day 5Andrew arrived at CURE last night. His procedure is scheduled today, he's currently 3rd on the surgery roster. We managed to get him laughing this morning, but he's not fond of the hospital issued gown. He wants his clothes back. Sweet kid, will update once he's out of the operating room and in recovery. http://bit.ly/Pl2E1u

  16. Day 1Severely bowed legs but young Andrew is going to have an incredibly inspiring story to tell one day! Follow him along as he checks into the hospital next week to have his bowed legs straightened. Don't let the serious face fool you, this boy is going to add lots of life to the ward! http://bit.ly/RFq1Sm
