About Edu
Edu is the first child that I’ve seen at CURE with a mental handicap. He suffers from the damage caused by cerebral malaria. He isn’t able to talk and communicates much like someone with autism. He suffers from severe bilateral clubfoot making it impossible for him to walk on his own.
CURE hospital gives free treatment to the kids admitted at the hospital in Malawi, but several patients in neighboring countries like Mozambique, take advantage of the free care. Missionaries in Mozambique told Edu’s family about CURE and they couldn’t wait to get here.
Edu is not in school because of his condition. His mother carries him on her back since she has no other method of transport. Edu’s mother realizes that he may never be normal like other children but she wants him to be less dependent on others. She can’t wait until he puts on his first pair of shoes. Please pray for Edu, this process will be really difficult since he lacks the ability to communicate and understand what’s happening to him. Thankfully, I think healing translates no matter the difficulties, and I can't wait to see what God has in store for this little guy.
