About Halima
Fifteen-year-old Halima Magombo’s legs look like something out of a cartoon. She has what is called a Windswept deformity, where her legs have grown in a way that looks, literally, like they are blowing in the wind.
Her legs became most problematic in 2007 when her deformity began to really affect the way she walked and played. She has not been to school since then and she has had to stop playing all of the sports she loves to play because she cannot move properly.
Halima’s mother died when she was two, so she stays with her grandmother now, and it is with her grandmother that she has come to CURE as they heard about the hospital through some helpful neighbors. CURE will get her all straightened out now, literally!
