About Sinthani
In the past, some people has mistakenly assumed that the Old Testament passage about "sins of the father" becoming the inheritance of his children, but these days no one really puts much stock into that mistaken idea. Sure we blame our parents for the way we turned out but most people would never claim to be cursed by the sins of their parents. According to two-year-old Sinthani Safunika’s community, the sins of his parents are exactly the reason he was born with cleft lip.
Sinthani and his parents suffer the constant jeering of their village because of his lip. They say he is cursed because of his parents’ sins, though no one would identify what exactly they may be. This all comes on top of the physical and developmental challenges Sinthani faces on a daily basis. At his age he still cannot speak, eating is a struggle and having a cold becomes a real mess.
His parents can’t wait to see the outcome of Sinthani’s surgery, as they want to see the troubles of their middle child come to an end. They won’t miss being talked about and criticized by the community either. Very shortly Sinthani will have a complete lip and will be able to go home to lead a normal life and hopefully go on to leave his family’s life of subsistence farming to be something great, despite his rough beginnings.

Tuesday June 19, 2012- Day 84Sinthani's treatment date has been changed to 06/15/2012 - Sinthani has yet to have surgery. He was sent to Feed the Children in anticipation of his surgery, but he will be back on the 14th!
