It’s simply amazing that there is a hospital here in Malawi that takes the tough and strange cases that has become the norm for CURE. Without CURE, seven-year-old Rashida would have no choice but to live in pain with open wounds due to the inability for most hospitals here to treat Chronic Osteomyelitis cases. Rashinda first began complaining of pain in her left ankle and after being treated by a local hospital with cold compresses, the area that hurt here began to blister. It was no longer a case the local hospital could handle, so her father, Hatim, sought more advanced treatment for is increasingly ailing daughter. She ended up at a hospital that could do x-rays, and they found out she had an infection in her bone, which was festering to the surface. That hospital referred her to CURE as they were not prepared to take appropriate measures. Though Rashida has had to sacrifice a lot because of her condition including school and traveling, she refuses to let it get in the way of her social life. She still manages to play through the pain with her friends at home. Soon enough, the pain will be under control and Rashida will be able to get back to school and back to her life, all thanks to CURE.
