Hawa lives in Malawi and has osteomyelitis, and in Malawi the sort of specialty medical care Hawa needs is scarce. There are 100 million children in the world just like Hawa who have little hope for the future.
Many can't play with their friends or go to school, and when Hawa grows up, things that we hope for like marriage or finding a job will be difficult or impossible...all because Hawa has a curable disability! But you can change Hawa's life forever.
You can help

About Hawa

Chronic osteomyelitis is no joke. If left untreated, the infection eats through the bone and the flesh, exposing everything that God covered with skin, muscle and other tissue for protection. Three-year-old Hawa Abas’ condition isn’t quite that bad yet, but it is on it’s way.

It started with just a little bit of pain and swelling and it has progressed from there. Last year after Hawa was sick and in the hospital, she began to have swelling in her right leg. She was complaining of pain as well and could no longer run around and play like she used to. After being examined a doctor, it was determined that she had an infection in her bone. Now she has a sore on the same leg, which means the infection is seeping out into the flesh around the bone.

Hawa will soon be at CURE to have the infection cleaned up and treated in hopes it won’t come back. She will no longer complain of pain and she will be back playing with friends, running, jumping and just enjoying being a kid very soon!
