About Mayamiko
You know I never realized until hearing seven-year-old Mayamiko Sailesi’s story, that having clubbed feet affects not only the function of the feet, but the entire leg. Obviously Mayamiko experiences an enormous amount of difficulty walking and playing like all the other seven-year-olds, but she also has a tough time with her knees. She can hardly bend her knees because of the misalignment of her feet, which makes using the restroom especially challenging. Mayamiko’s clubfeet come with an even greater cost, her education. She has to be escorted to and from school because the journey is too long for her to be able to make it on her own, but if her parents are unavailable, she simply doesn’t go. She has missed a lot of school because of those feet. So I say it’s high time they are fixed, so she can attend school regularly and so the rest of her legs can function properly.

Tuesday May 22, 2012 - Day 131 Mayamiko's treatment date has been changed to 05/29/2012 - She got into the operating room and they realized she had a fever and a cough so they had to call it off for today. They'll try again next week.
Tuesday May 22, 2012 - Day 131 Mayamiko's treatment date has been changed to 05/22/2012 - Mayamiko is back and is about to have, hopefully her last surgery!
Tuesday May 22, 2012 - Day 64 Mayamiko's follow up appointment has been scheduled for 04/16/2012 - Mayamiko was sent home for a while, finally! She has her cast on now and it will be on for 4 weeks and then she will be readmitted for some last minute things. Keep praying for her!
