About Lameck
Instability is nothing new to four-year-old Lameck Daudi. The small boy has been shuffled between caretakers and even his little legs have been undependable as he suffers from knock-knees. One thing he has been able to count on, however, is his loving and persevering grandmother.
At sixty-five years old, the woman has taken on the responsibility of Lameck and other children, though she is divorced and can only support them via pieceworks, which means she works for other people in their gardens for mere pennies. She willingly took on the challenge of raising her disabled grandson when his mother, an epileptic with other mental difficulties, was no longer able to care for the child herself, especially after her husband left her due to her own disabilities. Lameck’s grandmother is hoping that CURE will give her the slight break she needs in order that she may continue to do what she can to keep her patchwork of a family together.
We are looking forward to alleviating Lameck of the pain he often complains of after traveling long distances, as reported by his grandmother. Most importantly, however, we are excited to be able to give him the exciting social life every three-year-old should have, as right now running is a challenge for him and he is not able keep up with his peers, preventing him from partaking in all of the games and activities they play. Soon, Lameck will be able to enjoy more stability than he ever has before, and his grandmother is happy to have the condition of her grandson’s condition changed as it, interestingly enough, gives her hope that the boy will one day be able to create his own stable world with a wife, as right now she is not confident any woman would have him due to his knock-knees.
