About Viola
Viola is one shy girl, even with her teacher Pius with us; it was almost impossible to get a word out of her. I first thought, "Well maybe it’s the language barrier that is throwing her off," but Pius said, “ No, no this is just our Viola. She is a quiet one!”
After hearing much of her story from Pius, I found out that she was born with the condition known as amniotic band syndrome (ABS). ABS occurs when the fetus becomes entangled in fibrous, string-like amniotic bands in the womb, restricting blood flow and affecting the baby’s development. In Viola’s case, the band wrapped around her leg, therefore resulting in an amputation. I am so thankful Viola’s guardians sent her to a school that is trained to help and educate children with disabilities. Viola told me, “ I don’t feel like an outcast at my school. I am just like everyone else.”
I am even more thankful that the school knows about CURE, and brings their students to our mobile clinics! When Viola comes to our hospital, she will be receiving a stump revision and then fitted with prosthesis! God has BIG things is store for Viola and I cannot wait to see the healing begin in this sweet girls life!

Thursday April 4, 2013 - Day 155The upcoming elections have been somewhat of a hinderance to Viola and some of her school mates, so we hope that she will be at clinic towards the end of next month after the elections are over.
Tuesday February 5, 2013 - Day 52Viola's treatment date has been changed to 01/24/2013 - Viola's teacher was at the mobile clinic today. Hetold us that they are not yet ready for surgery. When they are, they will let us know and I will definitely let you know
Thursday October 25, 2012 - Day 29Viola's treatment date has been changed to 10/25/2012 - Viola will not be coming in for surgery just yet. But I talked to her teacher and confirmed that she is well. We hope to see her later this month so that she can get a new surgery date.
