About Phillip
“I was given when he was worse.” That was Margaret’s answer when I asked her what condition had brought them to the hospital. I assumed by “given” she was referring to God and Him giving Phillip to her with a condition that was in a worse state than it was at our present meeting.
Phillip was born with bilateral clubfoot. At three weeks old, he began castings to help with his condition. The casting was so intense, and they needed to go to the hospital every week. Margaret began to explain, “It seemed more logical to move to Nairobi. I left two of my younger children home and went to live in the city with a relative so that we could be close to the hospital. In the process I lost count of how many times they casted Phillip's feet.” The improvements were barley noticeable so they moved back to their rural village. There they were connected with CURE’s mobile clinic and sought treatment.
It's funny how God leads us...just as Margaret was giving up and moving back home, we got connected with them. Phillip is currently still in his casts, but when he comes in November, doctors will perform a bilateral PMR, which is basically a release of the tissues keeping his feet turned inward. We are so excited and counting down the days to see Mr. Phillip again. He has such a bright and big future a head of him!!
