About Miriam
Miriam is a fascinating little girl. She is one of those kids that has not allowed her disability to stop her from enjoying and perusing after life. When her caregiver told me that she even goes to the “shamba” or farm to work, I had to ask Miriam to show me how she goes about doing her activities. Miriam immediately stood up and placed her stump where she would normally rest her hand on the crutch and began to show me how she works. I was fascinated and completely blown away by her effort and strive to be like everyone else. This little one is determined to say the least.
At first glance I thought Miriam was going to be very shy and make me work for every single detail, but I shortly learned the opposite. She not only was a chatterbox but she loved talking about what the doctors were going to do to her leg in surgery. “I am so excited for them to get rid of the bone that is currently causing me pain,” she told me as she pointed to the little bone overgrowth on her right leg. “ I can’t wait for the day I get a leg and no longer need my crutches.” Talking about the leg prosthesis she will be fitted for after her wounds heal up. She assertively continued, “I want to be a doctor when I finish school.” I just smiled at the amount of personality in this little girl!
Based on her determination, persistence, and tenacity I truly believe she will become whatever she puts her mind too! She is what I like to call a mover and a shaker. Miriam is so special and I cannot even imagine the wonderful plans our Father in heaven has for her! I believe the ball is now in our court to serve and love Miriam as she goes through this life changing surgery with CURE. What an honor it is to meet and be able to walk through this special journey with someone like Miriam. I pray for the time in-between now and her surgery date, that the Lord would continue to give his loving peace to her as she anxiously waits for August!

Wednesday April 10, 2013 - Day 248No Miriam at the mobile clinic in her home area. We have not been able to get through to her teacher yet to find out what happened, but when we find out, we will let you know. For now, we hope to see her in March.
