About Blanca
Blanca’s clubfoot came with her into this world, as she was born into a small, underprivileged village that barely had basic services available. Although her condition is not severe, Blanca has suffered greatly because kids in her community mock her all the time. Her defense? Rarely leaving the house. Due to the very limited financial resources of her parents, they haven’t been able to get her medical attention.
Alberto, her father, works more than 10 hours a day as a private residential gardener, while his wife sells food in a local market and takes care of Blanca. One day, Blanca’s mother got sick and wasn’t able to look after her daughter, so Blanca had to go to work with her dad.
But God’s plan is perfect in every way, and He has a right timing for everything. That day, while Alberto was mowing the lawn around the house, the homeowner, Amalia, came out to greet him. As soon as she saw Blanca with him, she felt compassion and decided to help pay for treatment. Amalia immediately contacted her best friend, a retired certified nurse, who referred them to the CURE Honduras Hospital.Now we’ve started using the Ponseti Method of serial casting to help straighten out Blanca’s clubfoot. Eventually, she’ll require a quick procedure to lengthen her Achilles tendon, but overall, her journey to healing should be pretty simple. We thank God for generous people like Ana and pray that Blanca’s time with disability, insecurity, and teasing will end, and that a brighter future will begin!
