About Asael
Asael lives in Tela, a city very famous for its beaches. Because the city is so small and tropical, locals normally use their bicycles as transportation. Two months ago on his way to school, 14-year-old Asael was hit by a bus driving the wrong way. The moment happened so fast, he says, he didn't know what hit him, literally. “I thought someone just pushed me over,” he explains.
The bus struck Asael directly, sending him flying into the air! The next thing he remembered was waking up at the hospital with so much pain and two plates in his left forearm. But the pain continued even after he left the hospital and got worse in time, so his family decided to bring him to the San Pedro Sula public hospital for a second checkup.
The x-ray technicians found that the plates’ pins were not correctly inserted, causing his bones to heal incorrectly, magnifying his pain. And since Asael couldn’t get a doctor’s appointment, a nurse referred him to us. We’ve taken out his plates and given him two pins that will help him heal up faster, and in the correct position. “God always helps me,” Asael says, “I can feel his love and his protection always.” We love his optimism and faith! :)
