About Jesus
Jesus is a very determined kid. At 13 years of age, he already knows what he wants to be when he grows up: a lawyer. This is very uncommon for Honduran kids in general. At that age we all want to be the next soccer star, or in some music-related area. “Honduras is a very difficult country to live in,” he says, “With so many problems going on around, I want to help and defend honest people.”
Although very mature for his age, he still loves just being a kid. One of his favorite activities is bike riding, and since he lives in a very rocky and mountainous area, he has become an expert. On one of his adventurous rides, he had an accident and fell of a small cliff, causing a fracture to his radius bone in his right arm. His father, Jose Angel Calix, took him to the public hospital nearby, where they told him that he needed to get surgery, but hospital staff were on a strike, so he only was given a cast.
Looking for help, Mr. Calix asked his spiritual leader at the Corazon de Maria Church if he knew a hospital or a medical brigade that could help his child. Thankfully he did and soon referred them to us at CURE Honduras. Now with the treatment he needs, he’ll be ready to take on the trails again in no time.
