Pedro's Case is Complete!

Pedro was shot in the leg about a year ago, and because of this injury, the growth plate in his knee was damaged, so his leg started growing crooked and not at the same pace as the other leg. He now needs two operations to treat two different problems that he has - an osteotomy (the cutting of his bone to make it straight) and also a plate put in the good growth plate to slow the growth and allow the other leg to catch up.

In the end he will probably still have a slight limb length discrepancy in his legs, but they will be nearly the same and he will be able to play sports and be active, unlike he would be if he didn't receive treatment for this. His leg would continue to grow crooked and be much shorter than the other.

As one of our doctors put it, it's a heck of a world when five-year-olds are getting shot. But this is the reality of the world, and how grateful we are and the family of Pedro is that there is treatment to heal his wounds.

This is a perfect example of beauty coming out of brokenness and hurt; a life surely changed because of healing. Pedro's family are cultural Catholics, and our Spiritual Director had a chance to share the Gospel with them.
