About Amagnesh

Amagnesh is working for a family as their house maid. When the father of the house heard about CURE, he brought her here hoping she could get an operation to correct her left foot, which is slightly bent but causes her a lot of pain. Her boss is blind, but he and his family were willing to pay for her operation if needed.

Amagnesh was in grade 6 when she had to quit school. She still dreams of going back after her operation, though. Before she started working as a housemaid, she lived with her family in Gojam, which is quite a distance from Addis Ababa where our hospital is located. Her parents are farmers, and she has 1 brother and 1 sister.

CURE is the first hospital that she's ever visited even though she's lived with this condition since birth. She never had any issues with bullying because of her disability, though. It's a little bit difficult to see from photos or even when she is walking that she has any kind of deformity, but the pain that it causes her is the main thing she is excited about leaving behind.
