About Bilal
The only word I understood this kid say while he was talking up a storm was "forenge" (foreigner). Of course, I stopped the conversation and asked what he was saying about me. "A white person touched my face." It didn't even register to me that I did it, or that it would have any kind of impact on him. But he better brace himself for when he comes back. I'm going to have to love on this kid. Look at that face.
Bilal doesn't go to school, but he hopes to after his surgery at CURE. He had a previous operation at a place called Woliso. They sent him to Arbaminch to get a special shoe, but from there they were sent to CURE. Now he will be receiving two surgeries; one for each foot.
Bilal's parents are farmers, and he has one younger brother. He wants to become a doctor when he grows up. In the meantime, he loves to play. You can follow his story here, and watch his transformation as he gets two straight feet!
