Remembering
Yesterday, most Americans took time to remember what happened in this country ten years ago on September 11, 2001. Today, the 9/11 Memorial opened in downtown New York City, providing a permanent place to remember those events, the heroes that sacrificed themselves, and the victims that perished in the attacks in New York, Washington, DC, and Pennsylvania. It was an important day for America, and I’m thankful for a beautiful memorial in New York City that will someday allow me to help my now 4-month-old daughter understand events which shaped her home nation long before she was born.
All that remembering got me thinking about “remembering” as a concept, and particularly what God thinks about these intentional acts to look back and remember. It’s helped me realize that God is intentional about helping us remember His goodness and provision, and I’m grateful for that.
