Wrapping Afghan Moms in God’s Love

Brant Hansen

Brant Hansen

WAY-FM morning radio host Brant Hansen visited CURE’s hospital in Kabul last week to help mom’s in need.  CURE’s two facilities there provide care to thousands of Afghans every month, many of which are mothers and infants.

Each morning, Brant called into his show, Mornings with Brant, to share updates from the trip.  Brant and the rest of the Mornings with Brant crew encouraged their listeners to help Afghan moms, by donating to provide expert medical care and a blanket.

The result was amazing!  So far 1966 mothers have been helped! You can  read more about Brant’s experience or get involved in the campaign yourself.

Mornings with Brant/Afghan Mom Update

Quick update on the ongoing Brant Hansen/Afghan Moms campaign.

Brant’s listeners have donated almost 1,100 blankets (and expert maternal care) to Afghan moms so far this week! This has doubled the original goal of 500 blankets. With two days left in the campaign, Brant has upped his goal to 2,000!

If you are interested, Brant has been updating his daily exploits in Afghanistan on his Facebook page.

To donate, you can call 1-877-846-4978 or donate online. Thanks to everyone who has donated so far. You are helping give an Afghan mom a safe and happy delivery.

Zambia News

Read this powerful article in the Zambia Post. It’s an amazing story that captures perfectly why our CURE Zambia hospital is so important to the people of this country.

I’d also like to share a story with you about a patient named Memory. Thanks to Harold from CURE Zambia for sending this in!

Chola_Memory_091015_001Memory is 6 years old. She had a crooked spine, which kept her from walking like normal. Her situation appeared hopeless, despite her mom Catharine’s best attempts to find a cure until…Her search led Catharine to a mobile clinic organized by the Beit CURE Hospital of Zambia. Memory soon came to CURE Zambia for surgery. That was in November of 2008.  Today, after a series of operations, Memory’s walking has improved! As you might imagine, Catharine is overjoyed at the change in her daughter.

Please keep Memory and Catharine in your prayers as Memory continues her recovery.

Also, remember to check out the blog of WAY-FM’s Brant Hansen as he’s in Afghanistan all this week. You can donate a blanket to an Afghan mom here.

Brant Hansen Spreads the CURE in Afghanistan

Way-554aFriend of CURE and WAY-FM super broadcaster Brant Hansen is visiting Afghanistan this week to spread the word about what CURE is doing in the city of Kabul.  We operate two facilities that provide care to thousands of Afghans every month.

Every morning this week from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. EST, listeners to his show, Mornings with Brant, can hear updates from Brant in Kabul. Through the miracle of the InterWeb (that’s the Internet), you can listen to it here.

You can also follow him on his blog and on Twitter.

Brant is encouraging his listeners to support Afghan moms all this week. You can donate a blanket and help give an Afghan mom and her newborn child medical care at our facilities in Kabul.

And the response so far has been phenomenal!  Just today, more than 170 blankets were donated and
more than $18,000 raised.

To donate right now, you can call 1-877-846-4978 or donate online.

Thanks to everyone who has responded so far!  Keep listening all week to Brant and check out the CURE
Blog for updates.

Honduras Video

The focus of the news has been on Afghanistan as of late. But you may recall that last summer there was turmoil in Honduras as the country’s president, Jose Manuel Zelaya Rosales, was ousted. Since then, the situation has remained mainly peaceful, but at times uncertain. CURE has a hospital in Honduras in the city of San Pedro Sula, which we opened in January 2009. The husband-wife duo of Daniel and Ruth Castro serve as the spiritual and executive directors of CURE Honduras. Just a few days ago, they shared some of their thoughts on the current situation in their country and how it has affected the hospital.

We’d be most appreciative if you’d keep Honduras and our hospital in your prayers. Also, please keep Afghanistan and our facilities in Kabul in your prayers as that country prepares  for the next round of elections on November 7.

Afghanistan Earthquake

In case you might not have heard, an 6.2 magnitude earthquake hit near Kabul, Afghanistan, earlier this morning. We got word from our staff over there that everyone is okay. Here’s more info.  Please keep the people affected by this in your thoughts and prayers.
