Nationwide Campaign Aligns Fitness with Philanthropy
Attained Fitness Goals Provide Life Saving Surgeries for Underprivileged Children
Lemoyne, Pa., Jan. 30, 2013 – Today, CURE International announced the launch of its Champion campaign that helps individuals attain their fitness goals while simultaneously raising money for the life-saving and life changing surgical needs of children with disabilities. The nationwide campaign is now accepting applications from dedicated individuals who are willing to commit to a fitness and fundraising goal. CURE will collect team participants over the next four weeks and select men, women or groups based on their goals.
Once the teams are established, they will be given a customizable webpage to promote and manage their campaign. Champion team members will also be paired with three celebrity fitness coaches as well as a fundraising coach who will assist them in their quest to meet their physical and the philanthropic goals. Each team will be connected with a child who requires CURE fundraising efforts. When the fundraising goal has been achieved, a team member and coach will be randomly selected for a goodwill trip to a CURE Hospital to meet with the patients and families at their homes. CURE hospitals are located in Afghanistan, Dominican Republic, Ethiopia, Honduras, Kenya, Malawi, Niger, Uganda, United Arab Emirates, and Zambia. The Tebow CURE Hospital is also currently under construction in the Philippines.
“We designed the Champion Campaign for everyone wanting to accomplish a fitness oriented goal,” noted Joel Worrall, vice president, cure.org. “What better motivation do they need than saving a child’s life? It empowers people to make a real impact and see their results in ways they could never have imagined.”
CURE has partnered three highly accomplished fitness coaches: Andrea Metcalf, best–selling author of Naked Fitness and frequent guest of The Today Show, GMA Health and Better TV; John Carter, one of the most celebrated professionals in the fitness industry and star of his own workout videos and; Tiffany McWilliams Dudley, the three-time NCAA Champion, and SEC Hall of Fame runner. In addition to the fitness coaches, CURE’s own fundraising guru, Katie Rae Spell, will assist Champion team members with their fundraising strategies and goals.
“CURE Champion is one of the most innovative ways I’ve seen to combine fitness with charity,” states John Carter, “Fitness goals can range from losing 20 pounds to running a marathon, as long as the individual has the drive to see it through and is committed to meeting the fundraising goal, we will find ways to support and motivate them.”
